Sara H. Mejias received her PhD in Biophysics in 2016. She has an interdisciplinary background combining molecular biology, photochemistry, and spectroscopy. This background allows her to tackle current scientific challenges with original and ground-breaking approaches. Recently, she started her independent career at IMDEA Nanoscience (Spain), supported by Caixa’s junior leadership grant. Her research is focused on bio-engineered nanophotonics. In particular, she developed new methods to improve light conversion efficiency by studying protein-dye interaction mechanisms at the molecular level in engineered bio-hybrids. She is very committed to science dissemination. She participated in different outreach activities around Europe, including Scifest (Sweden), the Mujer y Ciencia event, and the IFEMA science fair (Spain). She has an international scientific network in the field of nanoscience. She recently joined our team at realscientistsnano podcast group as curator liaison.
